Commission by the Australia Council for the Arts

In 2019 Gatherer travelled to Venice Italy to cover the opening of Angelica Mesiti's Assembly at the Australian Pavilion in Venice as part of the 58th Biennale Arte.

With over 90 national pavilions and 79 artists represented at the 2019 event, the Venice Biennale is truly a international art exibition and media opportunities limited.

As part of the pavillion's communications strategy, Gatherer was engaged by the Australia Council for the Arts to produce broadcast-quality video collaterol, including interviews with artist Angelica Mesiti, curator Juliana Engberg and exhibition footage, to maximise media opportunities in Australia and internationally. Gatherer's footage was broadcast in Australia by the ABC and also featured in international coverage of Mesiti's exhibition by CNN, Reuters and others.

In addition to the official Venice Biennale, Gatherer also covered artist Richard Bell's renegade Venice Biennale exhibition, No Tin Shack, a scale replica of Australian pavilion wrapped in chains that traversed Venice's canal during the vernissage.
